St. John Wort can work on mild depression. It has some of the same properties as Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, and Paxil among others. It’s main purpose is to help with depression and to a lesser extent anxiety, panic attacks and Obsessive Compulsive tendencies.
Depression can be debilitating. This is far easier said than done but try to think of positive solutions to the things that are depressing. Also, make a list of things that make you happy and read that list everyday. Relax, meditate, do breathing exercises when you feel a bout coming on.
It is really hard to overcome depression, and “Happy pills” simply can help. Sometimes it’s just an electrical problem in the brain. It can even be hereditary-depression. The drugs just work to retrigger the right paths.
I’ve been through it, and drugs helped me, also therapy. This was 6 years ago and I am able to cope and work past depression when I sense it coming most of the time. I haven’t taken any drugs in years, but when I did, it is what saved me.
Seriously, get a real good friend to join a gym with you. To me, exercise not only gets your body in shape, but, I feel it helps with being depressed. If you say, but, I am already trim and fit, it’s still a good thing being out with a friend, keeping your mind off every day things that may be weighing on your mind. But, don’t be alone. When you’re depressed you think you want to be alone, but, it’s not a good thing. You must have one, good true friend you can talk to about everything and anything. Think about it, what do you do at a shrink’s office?? Talk! Get things off your chest and out in the open. But, pay a fortune to do so. And, try to get them to go to the gym with you, if only 2 or 3 days a week. Or, better yet, a yoga class. It will work wonders for depression and relieving stress. Good luck! And yes, stay away from the happy pills. One day you MAY REALLY need them. But it’s good that you want to try other alternatives first. But, remember one thing. If you do ever get to the point where you think you should be on meds to help you cope….there’s nothing wrong with that. The wrong thing is knowing you should be but, aren’t on them. This life is hard Baby. Fight it all you can. You’ll be in my prayers.
U can give Yoga or Tai Chi classes a try. Those are natural ways that can help u handle ur stress and is good for deppression. They dont happen overnite but can help u over time.

Tai Chi is a martial art that has many health benefits including stress relief. If u can find a knowlegable instructor its a very effective martial art which can help boost ur focus and self esteem.

Seriously though as you already know i been going through an on & off battle with depression the last few months. The things i would do to fight depression would be to do things i like to do & keep busy. I also would Drink Chamomile Tea. That Tea is a good stress relaxer especially before going to bed. I hope u feel better soon & u know u can get in touch with me if u ever need to talk.
a 35 game win streak by the Cubs would work for me…. but then they’d probably just get swept in the playoffs again.
i wouldn’t go trying to cure yourself w/ out professional help & YA isn’t the place for that kind of advice, no matter how many ORANGE badges answer

I haven’t had much experience with handling depression or helping anyone that is depressed, but I think this website could help. If you need to talk, my email’s always open.
St. John’s Wort tea is a natural happy pill.
It’s basically like valium. To me it is anyway.
I usually make it really concentrated though.
Good Luck.
